The Bill Gates Condom Challenge

Bill-Gates-challenges-you-to-make-a-better-condomIt’s not everyday we get excited about condoms, but today might be that day thanks to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. He is a very smart man.

That’s why he’s one of the wealthiest men alive and that’s why he and his wife’s foundation can entice you into developing the next generation condom.

It is an odd challenge, but the winner could reap serious benefits.

What is the next generation condom?

The next generation condom doesn’t really exist yet, but Gates is offering a $100,000 prize to whoever comes up with it. It’s Gates’s goal to find someone who can create a condom that men feel are more pleasurable while reducing unplanned pregnancies and spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

If condoms are used correctly, they can prevent up to 98% of pregnancies and the spread of STDs, but that doesn’t change the fact that in the United States there were 20 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases and we’re spending $16 billion on treatment annually.

The company’s blog makes the condom challenge interesting, with this question:

“What if we could develop a condom that would provide all the benefit of our current versions, without the drawbacks? Even better, what if we could develop one that was preferred to no condom?”

Are you up to the challenge?

The $100,000 prize is not the interesting thing to us. It’s the fact that Gates is giving people a chance to possibly make a significant change in the fight that has become an epidemic.

If you can create something that stops sexually transmitted diseases, you can do the world wonders.

Again, it’s an odd challenge to be excited about, but we can’t wait to see what the end product.

If you’re sexually active and need an STD test call our friends at ARCpoint Labs. Your health is important.

I think this is a really odd challenge. Bill Gates doesn’t have anything else to give to charity about?
